Speaker and Presenter Information

OPENING DAY KEYNOTE Leadership and Accountability When It Matters Commander Kirk Lippold, Inspirational Leader and Commander of the USS Cole The privilege and burden of leadership comes with a level of accountability that many aspire to emulate and anyone can rise up to and achieve. Using a devastating suicide terrorist attack as a backdrop, Commander Lippold conveys how the bedrock principle of integrity created an environment for leadership where his crew felt imbued with a sense of ownership as they seized the opportunity to be responsible for their ship and not just their jobs. Their own sense of personal accountability and leadership proved to be a guiding principle in the crucible of combat. OPENING DAY LUNCH KEYNOTE Jennifer Pahlka is the founder and executive director of Code for America, which works with talented web professionals and cities around the country to promote public service and reboot government. Government Technology named her one of 2011's Doers, Dreamers and Drivers in Public Sector Innovation and the Huffington Post named her the top Game Changer in Business and Technology. She is known for her TED talk, Coding a Better Government, and is a frequent speaker at a wide range of events. SECOND DAY KEYNOTE Change the Game Tim Gard, Author, Speaker Hall of Fame member We are facing difficult times. The pressure to do more with less, deliver to deadlines, and respond to increasing expectations has created - in many cases - an epidemic of stress and dysfunction. Everything seems so serious, and to Tim Gard this is not an acceptable way to work and live. Although he is one of the funniest men in America, Tim doesn't make light of serious situations; he shines light on them to reveal previously unseen possibilities. He points out that everyone smiles and laughs in the same language, and "finding humor when it's most needed" can be the very best way to boost morale and restore a creative atmosphere. After all, life is a game - or should be! It all depends on how one looks at things. By shifting your perspective, you can change your experience - and the experience you create for others - in a real, tangible, and valuable way. It's never too late to change the game.
