DCGS-A Innovation Showcase
The DCGS-A Innovation Showcase on the C4ISR Campus at Aberdeen Proving Grounds will be hosted by Project Manager Distributed Common Ground System – Army (PM DCGS-A) on Wednesday, 18 July, 2012. This event is an opportunity for current and potential industry partners to learn about the technologies currently under development within the DCGS-A framework. PM DCGS-A has identified technology shortfalls in current capabilities and have requested industry to present their proposed solutions and other technologies that may meet these needs during the technology exposition.
The event will have leadership briefings in the morning and will commence with a Technology Exposition in the afternoon.
Overview of C4ISR and DCGS-A
As part of the Department of Defense (DoD) command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) transformation, the DoD Distributed Common Ground/Surface System (DCGS) effort provides the framework for the military services to develop a common interoperable family of systems to task, post, process, use, and disseminate ISR sensor data and intelligence products.
-
What is DCGS-A?
DCGS-A is the Army component of the overarching DoD DCGS program, and integrates with other service branches’ DCGS, as well as with databases and systems owned and operated by the National Intelligence Community.
-
What does DCGS-A do?
DCGS-A leverages national and Joint ISR capabilities down to the joint task force (JTF) level, upper echelons (corps, division), and into lower echelon systems, including brigade, future Battle Command System (BCS), and Land Warrior. DCGS-A also facilitates information-sharing with coalition partners.
-
DCGS-A supports numerous components including:
- Targeting
- ISR management and synchronization
- Exploitation of information through automated and semi-automated capabilities
The program includes the fusion of input from multiple sources and provides tools that improve the analysts’ ability to glean valuable information while developing the intelligence picture.
