26th Annual Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force

This year’s conference will be held at the beautiful Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Once again, the three U.S. Attorney’s Offices in North Carolina and the District of South Carolina are cosponsoring our conference. Additionally, conference co-sponsors are the North Carolina Justice Academy, the Regional Organized Crime Information Center (ROCIC), and the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association.

We have a dynamic agenda with a mix of nationally known experts and practitioners working narcotics trafficking in North & South Carolina. We will have a case study of Retired Navy Seal Eddie Gallagher, a RICO/VCAR case study, and a presentation on the Nash County Sheriff’s Office active shooter case.

We will build on our successful use of breakout sessions tailored to specific tools of the narcotics officers’ trade. Breakout sessions will be conducted Tuesday afternoon and throughout the day Wednesday, November 29th. This year each North & South Carolina U.S. Attorney’s Office will have a breakout with agents from their Districts to allow you to interact with federal prosecutors who will handle your cases. Valuable topics offered during the breakout sessions include a case study of the Pagans Leader Christopher Baker’s prosecution, Working with Cooperators, How to Investigate an Overdose Death Case, Law Enforcement Testimony, Basic Financial Investigations/Money Laundering, Taking an OCDETF Case from Start to Finish, and a couple of case studies on large narcotics and gang. This conference is designed to teach new material to both conference alumni and first- time attendees, with a focus on building investigations that target federal crimes. Sheriffs, DAs, and Police Chiefs are encouraged to attend with their drug units. Assistant District Attorneys and Solicitors are also encouraged to attend this training.
