Transit-Oriented Design and Development
This event qualifies for 1.5 CLE
Benefits
Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) has evolved rapidly over the past decade as more and more urban areas build or expand light rail, passenger rail, subway, bus rapid transit and other public transportation modes. Design elements are critical in making TOD projects truly transit-oriented, not just transit-adjacent. Similarly, transit stations need to become more neighborhood-oriented for TOD projects to succeed. This course will examine numerous challenges and solutions to TOD and illustrate some key design elements through case studies of three unique projects.
Learning Objectives:
- You will be able to review what is driving TOD today.
- You will be able to explain challenges and solutions facing TOD projects, including legal issues.
- You will be able to identify examples of projects employing sound design that contributes to successful TOD.
- You will be able to discuss foundational design elements.
