Defense Budget Wars: What the Battle in Washington Means to Our Region



The Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce will host a panel discussion moderated by Williams Mullen regarding the Department of Defense’s request for additional rounds of Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) and Congress’s efforts to reverse the mandated defense spending cuts in the Budget Control Act.

 The speakers will discuss:

  • What Congress and the Obama Administration are doing
  • The practical consequences and impact of sequestration and  proposed budget cuts
  • What the state of Virginia is doing
  • What can and should be done to protect local interests
  • How to deal with the issues and opportunities that arise when military facilities are closed or expanded
