Mobilizing the Business of Defense

As early as next year, Department of Defense (DoD) personnel may be able to connect their personal mobile devices - Android, iPhone, iPad - to unclassified DoD networks. To get to a true Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) strategy, however, the DoD will need to focus on four key areas: technology, policy, security and culture. While ensuring that the devices themselves meet minimum security requirements is important, the greatest challenge will be optimizing the backend, operational elements of the business of defense.

How can DOD shift from device-centric thinking to a content-centric approach in order to meet BYOD requirements? Working under guidance from the new Digital Government Strategy at the platform and information layer, DoD will need to address how it translates information and services at key operational areas – including personnel readiness, financial systems, and military health information exchanges – to a mobile platform without sacrificing content or functionality.

Join senior DoD executives, IT managers and security experts for a briefing to hear the immediate and long-term data and content management issues surrounding the DoD's mobile strategy, as well as how the issues might be overcome.
Come away knowing:

  • The content and data implications of a mobility strategy
  • The specific challenges facing the adoption of a BYOD strategy
  • Best Practices for securing content on mobile devices
  • How the Digital Government Strategy will impact DoD systems and processes
  • The future of mobility within the DoD, from the battlefield to the operations center
