ITAR Tech Data and Defense Services License Exemptions Explained Webinar

Don’t Be Afraid to Use Exemptions

ITAR license exemptions authorize certain tech data and defense service exports without a license.  Some exporters, however, get a license even when an exemption is available because they prefer the comfort factor of having an export license—and that is certainly understandable because some of the exemptions are complex and confusing, not to mention that some of the restrictions that prohibit you from using an exemption are not even written in the exemption itself.  And, by the way, did you notice the new recordkeeping requirements for exemptions that were added to the ITAR earlier this year?  If you are hesitant to use an exemption or if you want to learn more about using exemptions, this webinar is right for you.

After all, the State Department intentionally created the ITAR exemptions for you to use.  If you know what you are doing and are thorough in your analysis, using exemptions will enhance your export compliance program because you will be able to export faster and you won’t waste your limited resources on getting unnecessary licenses—plus, using an exemption saves you the $250 license application fee!

Join us and learn the issues to address when you use an exemption as we focus on teaching you about the most widely used tech data and defense service exemptions.  Just think:  use an exemption instead of a license only once because of this webinar and the $250 application fee savings will more than pay the cost of the exemption.

Join John Black as he uncovers the important exemptions that can be useful to your company. After over 28 years of experience helping companies figure out the complicated export regulations, he knows what exemptions are worth your time and what mistakes exporters typically make. We will cover these topics and more during the webinar:

  • Restrictions that do not appear in the exemptions
  • Exemptions certified by the Department of Defense
  • Exemptions for your employees
  • The Canadian exemptions
  • Allies maintenance exemption and other maintenance exemptions
  • The FMS exemption and who can use it for defense services and tech data
  • Snapshot of the new UK exemption**
  • The new (and old) recordkeeping and marking requirements for exemptions

**Because the new UK exemption is extremely complex, we have a separate 90-minute webinar on that topic. Click here for more information.
