ANNOUNCEMENT
NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) and the Cooperative Institute for Climate and Satellites - North Carolina (CICS-NC), are pleased to host the first Dataset Discovery Day, to be held at NCDC in Asheville, North Carolina.

“Dataset Discovery Day” is a two-day workshop interaction to inform users of NCDC data offerings of  sector-specific needs in climate information.  In addition, we will explore potential future research needs.   The strategy is to engage leaders in specific sectors that use climate and environmental information.

This workshop will bring together business leaders, decision-makers, entrepreneurs, innovators, and scientists to discuss NCDC’s climate data, applications of the data, and future uses of climate information.  Through this collaborative discussion, we hope to uncover innovative opportunities for the market and research needs that can be provided to the scientific and academic community.

OBJECTIVES
  • Advance literacy on climate data and products for the private sector, and increase understanding of users’ needs for climate information
  • Discuss example case studies of decision-support tools and their applications
  • Continue to build networks between industry, academia, and solution-providers interested in managing their risks, particularly with respect to climate adaptation
For more information on NCDC and its sectoral engagement activities, please visit the website at: http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sectoral-regional.
