Description

This workshop uses original research, case studies, and group discussion to focus on the behavior of governing boards and what we know about it.  What behaviors are dysfunctional and which are beneficial?  Participants will explore and learn strategies for developing and sustaining better partnerships between executive staff and board officials.

Speaker and Presenter Information

Gerald Gabris, PhD, is a Professor at NIU in the Division of Public Administration. Jerry completed a five-year term (2004-2009) as Director of NIU’s nationally-ranked Public Administration Program and holds the title of Distinguished Teaching Professor at NIU. He is a specialist in organizational development, personnel management, leadership, and governing board dynamics. A nationally recognized expert in organizational behavior, Jerry has published over 60 articles and book chapters in human resources management and organizational behavior, and he is the past managing editor of Public Administration Review, his field’s leading academic journal. Jerry earned an AB, an MA, and a PhD in 1977 from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
