SANS SEC 464 Hacker Guard is a technical security awareness program for privilege users.

Tuition covers 4- 3 hour days  of initial  training, program materials, 11 hands on labs, and quarterly threat vector briefing and tool updates to reinforce what was originally instructed within the curriculum for a year.

The three key components of the program:

1.         The importance of Baselining.
 -Knowing what is normal/abnormal for Windows and Unix systems
 -Not knowing what is normal makes the auditors unhappy and hackers happy
2.        Continuous Monitoring for anomalies
-Discover evidence of intruder activity
-Understanding your network’s mood swings
3.        Establish effective communication with Cyber Security Incident Response Team
-Gap Reduction between Security, Auditing, Policy and System Admins

Tuition per student is $1,945 for the SANS SEC 464 vLive Hacker Guard program. Hacker Guard is available for OnSite instruction to groups of 15 or more individuals.

Please be advise, SANS SEC 464 will be experiencing a tuition increase on December 1, 2012. In order to honor the listed rate of $1,945 per student during the 2013 calendar year, a signed purchase order must be submitted prior or on the December 1st deadline for 2013.

Speaker and Presenter Information

John Strand John Strand is a senior instructor with the SANS Institute. He teaches SEC504: Hacker Techniques, Exploits, and Incident Handling; SEC560: Network Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking; SEC580: Metasploit Kung Fu for Enterprise Pen Testing; and SEC464: Hacker Detection for System Administrators. John is the course author for SEC464: Hacker Detection for System Administrators and the co-author for SEC580: Metasploit Kung Fu for Enterprise Pen Testing. When not teaching for SANS, John co-hosts PaulDotCom Security Weekly, the world's largest computer security podcast. He also is also the owner of Black Hills Information Security, specializing in penetration testing and security architecture services. He has presented for the FBI, NASA, the NSA, and at DefCon. In his spare time he writes loud rock music and makes various futile attempts at fly-fishing. Ted Demopolos Ted Demopoulos' first significant exposure to computers was in 1977 when he had unlimited access to his high school's PDP-11 and hacked at it incessantly. He consequently almost flunked out but learned he liked playing with computers a lot. His business pursuits began in college and have been continuous ever since. His background includes over 25 years of experience in information security and business, including 20+ years as an independent consultant. Ted helped start a successful information security company, was the CTO at a "textbook failure" of a software startup, and has advised several other businesses. Ted is a frequent speaker at conferences and other events, quoted often by the press, and maintains Security Certs, a Web site on Security Certifications. He also has written two books on Social Media, has an ongoing software concern in Austin, Texas in the virtualization space, and is the recipient of a Department of Defense Award of Excellence. Ted lives in New Hampshire and more about him is available at Demopoulos Associates. In his spare time, he is also a food and wine geek, enjoys flyfishing, and playing with his children.
