A New Approach for Evolving Cyber Threats Webcast

2011 was commonly known as the year of the breach, and thus far, 2012 is continuing the trend. The FBI’s former head of cyber investigations, Shawn Henry, recently painted a bleak picture of the threat landscape: “The current public and private approach to fending off hackers is unsustainable. Computer criminals are simply too talented and defensive measures too weak to stop them.”

In an August 2012 Technology Adoption Profile commissioned by Lancope and Cisco, Forrester Consulting states*: “Today, information security success is no longer defined by preventing attacks, but instead how quickly agencies can detect and contain breaches.” The study goes on to say that “Enlightened agencies have adopted network flow analysis capabilities to augment their preventative controls, but fail to include the additional context necessary to truly identify malicious activity within their networks.”

Join this webcast and learn:

  • Why modern attacks cannot be thwarted by traditional, preventative controls
  • Why agencies are still getting breached despite investments in flow analysis, often without even knowing it
  • How to obtain the security context necessary to fend off today's threats
  • How network analysis and visibility (NAV) tools can detect attack activity prior to data exfiltration

*Responding To New Threats Requires A New Approach, a commissioned study conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of Cisco Systems and Lancope, August 2012.

Presenters include:

  • Tom Albert, Vice President of Business Development, Lancope
  • Rick Holland, Senior Analyst Serving Security & Risk Professionals, Forrester
  • Raja Patel, Director of Product Management, Cisco
