Joint Sandia National Laboratories and National Defense Intelligence College Emerging Technologies Conference

The Defense Intelligence Agency’s National Defense Intelligence College, in conjunction with Sandia National Laboratories, will host a classified Emerging Threats Conference on May 11-13, 2010, with unclassified exhibits May 11 &12. The vendor area is located directly outside the sessions and time has been built into the agenda to maximize exhibit time during breaks and lunch.

The conference will address threats from, and possible responses to, electromagnetic pulse technology (EMP). Sessions will be organized to provide a complete picture of the state of this technology and uses among potential adversaries. The conference will be classified with activities at the SNSI and SRD levels for the sessions on the 11th and 12th and will include a morning session on the 13th at the SCI level for interested attendees. Exhibitors with appropriate clearances may attend sessions.

Five sessions will be offered:
- Traditional EMP – nuclear-based
- Emerging non-traditional threat technologies
- Space-based or exoatmospheric settings
- Status of hardening technologies – including selected papers from the Hardened Electronics and Radiation Technology (HEART) conference held in April, 2010
- SCI session (morning of May 13) to discuss detailed approaches to these emergent threats

A diverse audience is expected from a broad cross-section of federal entities including DoD, DOE, and the Intelligence Community. The sessions will integrate papers outlining imminent threats (traditional) and longer horizon ones (non-traditional) all with an emphasis on the USG’s ability to respond to them.

Exhibit Space Includes:
