B2G Forum Webinar: Better Buying Power 2.0 – What’s In It For Me?

The Department of Defense (DoD) recently issued its updated, new and improved edition of its Better Buying Power (BBP) guidance to help contracting officers "do more with less.”  The BBP guidance was initiated in late 2010 as a series of "best practices” to strengthen buying power, improve industry productivity and provide and affordable, value added military capability to the Warfighter.

The intent of BBP is to promote fundamental acquisition principles and achieve greater efficiencies, eliminate unproductive processes and bureaucracy, and promote competition. BBP initiatives are intended to incentivize productivity and innovation in industry and Government, and improve tradecraft in the acquisition of services.  But what does all of this mean to the contractors that provide goods and services to the DoD?

The purpose of this webinar is to discuss the concepts behind BBP and attempt to answer some questions:
•         In reality – can the DoD achieve the noble intent of continuous improvement?
•         What are the significant risks to industry?
•         What does industry think about BBP 2.0?
•         Are there second and third order effects of the BBP on Contractors?
•         What is the impact of announced budget cuts and Sequestration realities?

In addition, the webinar will cover the following topics of interest:
•         Overview of BBP 1.0 – DoD success stories
•         What’s new since the initial 2010 guidance?
•         Impact on the Federal procurement workforce
•         What’s in it for the Contractor?
•         Potential impact of sequestration and budget cuts
•         Strategies for success
