Addressing the Gap Between the Cloud & the User

The cloud holds great promise for effectively managing and delivering data on a global scale, but the Army has a variety of unique requirements it must take into account to ensure the technology effectively supports the mission. Captain Nelson-Fischer will discuss the criticality of process interdependency mapping and end user involvement in cloud development, including incorporation of capabilities for disconnected operations.

9:20am

Yes, You Can Take it With You

While advances in Cloud technologies have helped to address many of the challenges facing IT organizations, they have highlighted the plight of the user who is disconnected from the network, and therefore the Cloud. Clark Richey of MarkLogic will discuss real world architectures and technologies that make it possible for disconnected operators to maintain access to key mission data and analytic functions. And, when connectivity is re-established, automatic bi-directional information exchange allows new mission-relevant information to be locally available and all field changes/additions to be propagated up echelon.

9:50am

Mission-Driven Solutions Architecture for the U.S. Army

When choosing hardware to support its mission, the Army needs to consider a wide variety of use cases around the globe, from data centers to edge nodes. Each of these has different size, weight, and power restrictions, and they all need to work together in a secure, highly available environment. Matt Dinola of SGI will give an overview of SGI’s solutions and the architecture that has been deployed for DCGS-A and INSCOM. He will also discuss the partnership between SGI and MarkLogic, and what new technology capabilities this partnership brings to support the Army’s mission.
