Beyond Core Count: Rethinking Processor Performance for Tactical and Edge Compute
Processor selection for tactical and edge systems has traditionally centered on core count and clock speed, but that model is rapidly becoming obsolete. As missions demand higher performance per watt, mixed workloads and more efficient use of constrained power and thermal envelopes, new processor architectures are reshaping what “performance” really means at the edge.
In this joint webinar, Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions and Intel will explore how emerging processor technologies are redefining compute optimization for deployed and infrastructure-limited environments. Topics will include the shift away from core count as a primary metric, the impact of Intel® Performance-cores (P-cores) and Efficient-cores (E-cores) on real-world performance and power efficiency and the growing role of integrated NPUs for AI-accelerated edge workloads.
We will also demystify Intel’s evolving embedded and extended-temperature processor families and discuss practical strategies for leveraging modern virtualization on heterogeneous core architectures to maximize utilization, isolation and mission flexibility.
Join Dominic Perez, CTO of Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions, along with Bala Parthas, Principal Engineer and the Chief Architect of Fed and Aero of Intel, for a forward-looking discussion on how to architect resilient, efficient and future-ready tactical compute platforms.
