New DoD Protections Against Counterfeit Parts: Is Your Company Ready?

The Department of Defense has begun to implement statutory provisions requiring sweeping new protections against counterfeit parts. These changes will increase the risk and cost to participation in the DoD supply chain. Is your company ready?

In response to requirements in the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act that DoD mitigate the risk posed to its supply chain by counterfeit parts, DoD has issued guidance, instructions and, most recently, proposed regulations. All of these actions impose new requirements on contractors that will increase the cost and risk of participation in the DoD supply chain. And while the application of the proposed regulations is limited to a subset of prime contractors, the limitation is largely illusory as the new requirements for counterfeit parts mitigation systems will be flowed down to all levels of the DoD supply chain.

By fully understanding these new requirements and getting out ahead of DoD’s initiatives, companies can position themselves to minimize the cost and disruption posed by these new requirements. In short, if you supply parts, particularly electronic parts, to DoD as a prime contractor or a subcontractor, this  90-minute webinar will provide you with the tools to address this significant compliance shift.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the motivation for recent Congressional and DoD actions to address counterfeit parts.
  • Become familiar with the statutory provisions designed to address the susceptibility of the DoD supply chain to counterfeit parts.
  • Learn about DoD guidance, DoD instructions and proposed regulations that impose new requirements on DoD contractors.
  • Gain an understanding of what your company will be expected to do to address counterfeit parts.
  • Consider practical pointers on what DoD suppliers can do now to get ahead of the new compliance requirements.
  • And much more!
Who Will Benefit

This webinar will be beneficial to companies that are part of the DoD supply chain, including prime contractors and subcontractors. Participants will gain an understanding of DoD’s initiatives to combat counterfeit parts, how those initiatives will impact the cost of participation in the supply chain, and strategies for mitigating the impact of these significant changes. Reducing counterfeit parts has become a top priority for DoD and for Congress, and companies that understand the current state of play and evolving regulatory scheme will be best positioned to minimize the costs and other impacts of these changes.
