The Role of the Business Community in Building the STEM Pipeline

The Role of the Business Community in Building the STEM Pipeline

Join NVTC for an event that will provide NVTC members with the tools to inspire the region's youth to explore STEM education, strengthening the regional workforce as a result.  Through networking and expert keynote speakers, attendees will hear best practices that will address the following:

  • What is the role of businesses and their employees in supporting STEM education?
  • What is the return on investment (ROI)?   How can small, medium and large-sized businesses participate?
  • Who is redefining corporate citizenship?
  • What is the impact of school volunteers - on the students, volunteers and their organizations?
  • How do we support teachers and counselors?

Our challenge to NVTC members is to commit 10,000 volunteer hours in the coming school year to support students and teachers in the K-16 pipeline through SySTEMic Solutions and the Equal Footing Foundation (EFF), the charitable arm of NVTC.

In addition to engaging with the EFF computer clubhouses, NVTC is proud to partner with SySTEMic Solutions, Northern Virginia Community College's (NOVA) STEM outreach program that has been expanding throughout the region to develop a sustainable STEM pipeline.  With collaboration among school divisions, university partners, businesses, and community organizations, SySTEMic Solutions engages students as early as elementary school and inspires and supports them to pursue STEM education into high school and higher education institutions and into careers.
