Climate Change Summit 2024

The major climate trends and Challenges will continue to reshape society and we can only expect the impact to society to grow. For many within government, industry and academia, environmental, economic and health concerns are clearly at the top of the agenda, and the need to mitigate the impact of climate and Climate related disasters will bring profound Impacts this year and beyond. Often, we resort to technology and innovations to be the solution to a problem; however, people and organizations need to take responsibility. Collaboration and Partnerships are needed to Prepare for potential catastrophic impacts to our livelihood in the future.

Below are a few trends that important to the Climate Change community of Practice:

• With a continued increase in global temperature expected in 2024, Climate Scientist have been gathering data on future weather impacts to include more deadly heatwaves, stronger storms and rises in sea level. With a larger focus on climate change adaptation and resilience, communities can prepare for and respond to the impacts of these climate changes.
• NOAA is working on high-performance computing solutions to improve weather, ocean and climate modeling to provide a better understanding of Climate Change prediction and uncertainty.
• Derivative and Ensemble risk models and R&D are being deployed to improve our understanding of changes that pose a greater risk to our and ecosystems.
• Innovation in clean energy and Energy efficient technology and infrastructure can assist with net-zero emissions and improve performance towards slowing global temperature increases
