2nd Annual Current Issues in the Care of Dialysis and Transplant Patients
This event qualifies for 6 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits
Thisone-day educational symposium will examine kidney and pancreas transplantation with a special emphasis on the multidisciplinary approach in pre and post transplant care. In addition, the conference will provide updates on clinical trials in kidney transplantation and immunosuppressive therapies, offer insight on complex post-transplant issues, and focus on the care of waitlisted patients and those with a failing allograft. Furthermore, living kidney donations and the success of the Paired Kidney Exchange will be discussed as well as the impact of the new kidney allocation system.

Facilitate comprehensive pre-transplant evaluations and early referrals of patients by nephrologists and dialysis healthcare providers for kidney and/or pancreas transplantation to optimize clinical outcomes

Promote understanding of organ selection and its impact on transplant outcomes with specific reference to the current practice standards and the revised kidney allocation guidelines

Compare and contrast the efficacy of immunosuppressive agents in the management of kidney and pancreas transplant recipients in specific patient subgroups to optimize patient outcomes

Recognize post-transplant complications and timely intervention to promote superior post-transplant outcomes
