Cyber Security Virtual Conference: Ransomware

Ransomware is a form of malware designed to encrypt data files rendering any files on the computing device unusable.  Once files are encrypted a ransom is demanded in exchange for decryption keys. Ransomware is a major ongoing security problem and a growing national security threat. 

Government agencies are organizing on numerous fronts to combat ransomware.  On July 15, 2021 the U.S. Government launched a new One-Stop Ransomware resource at stopransomware.gov providing cybersecurity resources from across the federal government.  The objective is to inform business leaders across government and industry to recognize the threat, prioritize efforts to harden systems and work with law enforcement to promptly report ransomware attacks. 

A collaborative, nationwide effort is required at every level of government, as well as private and local communities, to combat this menacing challenge.  The 14th annual DGI Cyber Security Conference will focus on Ransomware to share with the government IT community what is being done to meet the challenge to include the solutions and technologies being deployed.
