Data management and analytics has been a Top Ten priority for state CIOs since 2016, according to the National Association of State CIOs (NASCIO), rising to #4 in 2025. Advances in generative AI (GenAI) are placing even more pressure on CIOs to improve their data quality, data sharing initiatives, and data literacy among stakeholders.
State-level CIOs are looking to employ analytics for data-driven policymaking, better fraud detection, and more efficient service delivery, among other benefits. But improving analytics also gives them better tools to justify the investments they need to make, whether in IT or any of the other myriad priorities state governments are expected to address. As their data environments get stronger and cleaner, it opens the way for using GenAI forecasting tools.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand how to use data platforms to create governance policies that provide quality data
- Evaluate the use of analytics to drive budgeting and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
- Delineate ways that GenAI tools can be used for better forecasting and making data-driven decisions
