Overview of the Workshop:

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) released a complete rewrite of Special Publication (SP) 800-124, Guidelines for Managing the Security of Mobile Devices in the Enterprise, on June 24, 2013. Mobile device security has changed dramatically in the last few years, particularly with the rise of bring your own device (BYOD) technologies.  This Potomac Forum Workshop is presented to help government and industry partners understand the new NIST Guidelines and implement an effective security program for mobile devices (both Agency Issued and BYOD).

Learn about the recommendations in the latest SP 800-124 release with your government and industry colleagues and explore the implication of this document for your agency security program or your contract. The Potomac Forum Workshop will present an analysis of NIST SP 800-124 Revision 1, conducted by one of its authors, with an emphasis on explaining how it will impact your security program.

A deep exploration will be conducted into this document and related NIST documents to examine the specific changes they bring to the way the government implements information security for mobile devices. A panel of government Chief Information Security Officers from the civilian government will also share their views on how these changes will impact government. The workshop will also include a mapping from SP 800-124 Revision 1 to SP 800-53 Rev 4 Security Controls, to assist agencies in their FISMA compliance efforts.

The Workshop Instructor is Karen Scarfone, Principal Consultant, Scarfone Cybersecurity,  the Co-Author of the Special Publication (SP) 800-124, Guidelines for Managing the Security of Mobile Devices in the Enterprise, on June 24, 2013.  Learn directly from the person who Co-Authored the publication.  This Workshop is 100% educational and not a sales or marketing presentation presented by vendors.
