Implementing TBM In The Federal Government – More Than Just An IT Initiative

This event qualifies for 1 CLPs

Federal agencies successfully using TBM know the rewards go further than just complying with another OMB mandate. While TBM supports meeting the requirements of CPIC and FITARA, it enables an agency to plan and manage its IT more effectively. TBM goes well beyond merely tracking technology costs. When adopted, it allows agencies to make more informed IT investment decisions, supporting them in delivering improved mission value.

But getting there isn’t easy. TBM team members often lack the experience or requisite skills. There are typically data availability and quality issues. And success is dependent on buy-in from across the agency: finance, IT, acquisition, mission delivery, human capital and data teams must work in concert – which makes TBM more than just an IT initiative, but instead a management initiative.

This panel discussion will dive into these topics, discussing how agencies can derive maximum value by adopting TBM principles and techniques. The panel will explore what factors are critical for TBM success in the public sector, while managing the people, progress, and costs. Panelists will discuss lessons learned from federal adoptions and overcoming the hurdles TBM teams face.

Attendees will benefit from the panelist’s experiences and learned lessons, providing them insights to further their agency’s investment management approach.
