As part of its risk mitigation strategy, the Cybersecurity Executive Order issued by the White House in May moves Zero Trust architecture to the center of cyber hygiene policy for the federal government. Zero Trust can be summarized easily: Trust nothing, suspect everything, authenticate 100%. The Executive Order includes directives to CISA and GSA to develop a cloud security strategy and provide guidance to agencies for implementation.
Addressing cloud security is imperative because data has become a strategic asset for agencies. But securing cloud workloads is different, and sometimes more challenging, than working with on-premises assets.
Join us to hear thought leaders from government and industry discuss the ways that cloud data management is evolving so that data is not lost or forgotten, new methods for speedy collection, analysis, and categorization, and innovative services for storage, data transfer, recovery options, and more.
Learning Objectives
- Delineate the key principles of cyber resiliency and data management in a Zero Trust environment.
- Outline the regulatory requirements from NIST, CISA, CMMC, and DHS, and ways to ensure compliance.
- Identify the priorities laid out in the Executive Order and the technologies that meet those objectives.
- Define what constitutes good cybersecurity for government cloud environments.
- Delineate measures for organizing data to know what is available, where it is located, and how to track its use.
- Outline appropriate security technologies for different IT system components, from backups to long-term cloud storage to data in transit.
