Multi-tenant infrastructure is playing an increasing role in government’s drive to reduce operating costs through innovative delivery of services using information technology.  This movement toward shared, multi-tenancy is the result of both new policies and emerging technologies such as:

  • Data center consolidation is pressuring agencies to reduce their footprints, consolidate applications and data into denser, highly utilized data center infrastructures that will be measured by the Cost per operating system hour (COSH), per the FDCCI Task Force.
  • Shared services approach is requiring applications that provide multi-agency value, like HR, financials and email to be shared amongst multiple customer bases.

  • Cloud First initiative is pushing agencies to migrate low risk workloads to a cloud environment to reduce costs and increase user agility and accessibility.

  • FedRAMP is creating a path toward secure cloud adoption within federal agencies that relies heavily on multi tenant technologies and processes to ensure low risk cloud adoption.

These for trends are moving of government data centers to a model where classification and prioritization of workloads based on mission performance and value requirements are met through the creation of shared, dedicated, performance and cloud based infrastructures.

This webinar discussion will explore how agencies are managing and measuring the effectiveness of this new computing environment.
