CyberSmart 2023 - Combating Cyber Crime in State and Local Government

Cyber attacks are on the increase across all levels of government – and state and local governments are often targeted because they have fewer resources for security. For instance, an October 2022 survey found that more than half of state and local governments faced ransomware attacks in 2021, and just one in five organizations successfully stopped the attack.

Strengthening the security and resilience of these agencies’ systems requires a combination of tried-and-true fundamentals and a willingness to innovate as new challenges arise. Solutions can be applied to everything from fraud mitigation to supply chain risks, securing a remote workforce to addressing how remote work expands the attack surface.

Join us as thought leaders from state, local and educational organizations discuss the threat landscape they face, the steps they take to mitigate and rebound from attacks, and next steps to protect their agencies.

We'll Learn

  • Understand software supply chain risks and ways to mitigate them
  • Identify the role of phishing in launching attacks and ways to educate the workforce to be alert for them
  • Outline the elements of identity access and verification and their place in improved cybersecurity
